Hello and welcome to my brand new Yamaha Piano Tips page. Over time I hope to add many more pages to this resource. But for now I'm am just going to highlight a couple of important things for you. The first thing on my list is the Yamaha U3 and, more specifically, the cabinet of the Yamaha U3. This is the not the most important aspect of a piano but for many families they want a piano that looks the part as well as sounds the part.
So when you are viewing any pianos online be very wary of piano dealers who claim that their pianos are in "as new" condition as this is rarely the case in reality. Make sure you ask the dealer if the case has just been polished or whether it has been stripped and had the top layer of polyester reapplied. The strip & repolish method is the only way to get the piano back up to brand new standard.
The other thing to consider is the brasswork. You want to make sure that this has been done in a careful manner. I sometimes see some very nasty scratches on pianos where the dealer has taken a brillo pad and scratches away at the brass. This might make the brash shiny but it also scratches the cabinet & finish. Not good!
That is all I'm going to say for now but I would like to draw your attention to a few information pages that I have put together. I actually run my own little piano shop from here in Royton so please have a look at my Yamaha Piano stocklist. My Yamaha U3 page is definitely worth a read if you are in the market for a high quality Yamaha upright piano. The same goes for my Yamaha U1 page. The Yamaha U1 is a really good option if you want the best but you can't quite afford a Yamaha U3.
If Yamaha isn't for you, please do have a look at my pianos for sale page which hopefully contains a bit of something for everyone.
Thanks for visiting
